In an exceptional display of social work and dedication to public health, a member of the (NYSC), Peace Dibal Yohanna (ZM/25A/0024), has renovated a deserted five-unit toilet facility at Government Girls Day Secondary School (GGDSS) Samaru in.

The project, focused on improving sanitation and promoting a much healthier learning environment, was officially commissioned on Tuesday in the school properties. Speaking at the event, the Zamfara State Planner of the NYSC, Mallam Muhammad Lawan Ahmed, praised the initiative as a reflection of the plan’s core goals. Represented by the Zonal Inspector for Gusau, Mallam Mustapha Waziri Danjuma, the coordinator stressed the significance of Community Development Service (CDS) in resolving vital needs within host communities.

He even more advised the school management and trainees to ensure proper upkeep of the center to sustain its effect. Ahmed also commended the school authorities for their cooperation and extended gratitude to sponsors who added to the success of the task.

Stating the motivation behind the initiative, Yohanna revealed that her personal experience with the poor state of the school’s restroom centers upon resumption motivated her to act. “It was not in good condition, and I instantly understood something needed to be done,” she said.

Identified to make a distinction, she mobilized assistance from stakeholders and protected financing, causing the successful rehab of the toilet units.

The school principal, Hajiya Hauwa Nafaru, revealed genuine appreciation for the intervention, guaranteeing that students would be adequately sensitized on proper usage and upkeep of the facility.

Also speaking, among the sponsors, Mr. Olorunfemi Emmanuel, admired Yohanna’s resilience and dedication, describing the project as both timely and impactful for the school neighborhood.

The commissioning event was participated in by dignitaries consisting of neighborhood agents led by the Hakimin Samaru, Alhaji Aminu, together with members of the school management, instructors, corps members, and students, all of whom commemorated the transformation of a once-neglected center into a functional and sanitary property.
