The workplace is located at the State Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan and is part of a trilateral cooperation between the UA Ruhr, the Academy and the German-Kazakh University (DKU). The objective is to sustainably broaden and institutionalise clinical cooperation with partner organizations in Central Asia.
Stronger regional presence
“The opening of the office will provide our UA Ruhr liaison workplace with regional assistance in Kazakhstan. This implies that the tactically crucial and geographically extensive area of Eastern Europe/Central Asia can be supported even more intensively in future,” states Elena Resch, Director of the Liaison Workplace. At the same time, the existing dedication of the Intermediary Workplace in the whole Eastern European area will continue unchanged from Bochum.
Cooperation with Central Asia is becoming significantly crucial. The subjects show the typical strategic interests of Germany and the Central Asian states:
- Energy and sustainability
- Raw materials and resource management
- Climate defense and ecological research
- Digitalization and expert system
- Water and ecological management
- Health research study
- Movement and infrastructure
- Education and university development
To further magnify cooperation, the UA Ruhr is preparing an online occasion with leading universities in Central Asia in September 2026. The aim is to start brand-new collaborations and expand existing collaborations.
