UNILORIN postgraduate admission form 2026/2027

The University of Ilorin, UNILORIN, has actually revealed the call for applications into its postgraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 scholastic session.

List of postgraduate programs

PhD degree programs

PhD programs are readily available to prospects with:

• M.A, M.Ed, M.Eng, M.Sc, LL.M, or M.P.H
• Minimum of 60 percent or CGPA of 4.0 on a 5-point scale

Duration:

• Full-time: 36 to 60 months
• Part-time: 48 to 72 months

A thesis is required at the end of the program.

MPhil/PhD programmes

Prospects with:

• 55.00 to 59.99 percent or CGPA of 3.50 to 3.99

can apply for MPhil/PhD.

Duration:

• 12 to 24 months (full-time just)

Prospects may transform to PhD after assessment if they score a minimum of 60 percent at the end of the very first session.

MPhil programs

Prospects with:

• 50.00 to 54.99 percent or CGPA of 3.00 to 3.49

Period:

• 18 to 24 months (full-time)

An argumentation is required.

Master’s degree programmes

Master’s degrees consist of:

• M.A
• M.Ed
• M.Eng
• M.Sc
• LL.M
• M.P.H

Period:

• Full-time: 18 to 24 months
• Part-time: 36 to 48 months

All Master’s programs involve coursework and research study; an argumentation is needed.

Postgraduate diploma programmes

Available to prospects with 3rd Class honours degrees.

General admission requirements

Applicants should:

• Have all entry certificates all set before application
• Have NYSC discharge or exemption certificate dated on or before 30 September 2026
• Send applications online with scanned credentials

Applicants need to also have five O’Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, gotten in not more than two sittings.

Candidates who got O’Level outcomes before 2015 might have a pass in English or Mathematics depending on the programme.

Transcript and document submission

After completing the online application, candidates must send:

• Supporting documents

Additional requirements for specific candidates

• PhD applicants must go to department interviews and evaluations
• Applicants from non-English speaking countries should provide TOEFL or IELTS
• All candidates should send a research proposal of not more than 5 pages to [email protected] before Friday, 8 May 2026
• Full-time candidates must provide a letter of release from employers

Candidates for PGD and Master’s programs will sit for a certifying examination, other than those with Very First Class or 2nd Class Upper from UNILORIN using within the very same discipline.

International candidates are exempt from the certifying assessment.

Application charge and test date

The application cost is:

• N25,000 for Nigerian applicants
• $200 for worldwide candidates

The certifying assessment is arranged for Saturday, 13 June 2025.
