
Disappointment for the Male’s Eight
Unlike the women’s water polo team, the German men’s “Studi Rowing 8” entered the competitors with medal aspirations. In the heat on Friday, Julius Kaim’s team exceeded the Dutch boat and won the heat, advancing to the last. Despite a solid start in the face-off on Sunday, the last event of the 2025 FISU Games, “Group Studi” was unable row their method onto the podium. In the end, they missed out on bronze by two seconds, while gold went to Great Britain, silver to Poland, and the Netherlands took bronze. The German crew needed to choose the thankless 4th location. As the youngest in the boat, Julius Kaim, who studies Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at TU Dortmund University, still has the chance to get approved for the FISU Games in 2 years, occurring in Chungcheong, South Korea, in 2027.
Honoring the Achievements of Student Athletes
TU President Manfred Bayer, who saw the rowing competitors and other FISU events in person, praised the trainee professional athletes: “We are happy by every German medal and effective involvement at the World University Games. We are specifically proud of the achievements of our trainees at TU Dortmund University.” He stressed that integrating scholastic training with elite-level sport is an unique obstacle and that mastering this demanding combination is an extraordinary accomplishment.
Great Successes for “Team Studi”
Christoph Edeler, the delegation leader of the German “Group Studi” who was on responsibility for twelve successive days, likewise drew an extremely positive conclusion. “It was an incredibly intense time in which we saw numerous top athletic performances. ‘Team Studi’ was more effective than ever before with eleven titles, 40 medals, and a sixth-place finish in the medal standings,” he said, including that the team presented itself as an outstanding host and delighted the local audience.
