Victoria Ariyo, who was serving under the Abeokuta South City Government Area (LGA), apparently died last Tuesday after going through an abortion treatment that caused extreme problems. Her remains were subsequently put to rest at Kobape Cemetery along Kobape-Sagamu Road.
The event has sparked widespread issue, coming hardly a month after another corps member, Adeleye Mary, died under mystical circumstances in the exact same LGA. Mary, who was serving at as her Place of Primary Project (PPA), was found lifeless in her residence near her workplace.
A source acquainted with the earlier occurrence stated, “The first woman died at her house, which is not far from her PPA. They found her lifeless body in the apartment or condo and, until now, nobody can tell the reason for her death.”
In the current case, authorities have actually jailed Abass Olalekan, the Local Government Inspector (LGI) for Abeokuta South, over his supposed participation in situations causing Ariyo’s death. Sources allege that Olalekan was in a romantic relationship with the deceased, which resulted in pregnancy and its subsequent termination.
A police source, who confirmed the arrest, specified, “That is the reality in problem,” adding that the case raises ethical and legal issues about relationships between authorities and corps members under their supervision.
Verifying the advancement, the source stated, “He is in our custody at the command’s headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.”
Authorities are expected to continue investigations into both occurrences, as issues grow over the safety and welfare of corps members serving in the area.
