
7 trainees of State High School, Ibereko, Badagry, have been arraigned before a qualified court for presumably vandalising and stealing federal government residential or commercial property within their school premises.
The students were apprehended by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Badagry Divisional Head Office of the Lagos State Command, over accusations that they vandalised electrical cables and aluminium products belonging to the school before selling the products to a scrap dealership.
Throughout the court procedures, five of the offenders, whose identities were kept since they are minors, were approved bail on the condition that their biological parents stand as sureties and supply legitimate ways of identification along with recent passport photos.
The court even more ruled that any of the juveniles whose parents stop working to satisfy the bail conditions would be remanded at the Juvenile Correctional Centre in Oregun until the requirements are satisfied.
The two adult offenders, identified as Saniola Nofiu, 19, and Kasiru Usman, 19, were denied bail and remanded at the Badagry Custodial Centre pending the determination of the case.
The matter was adjourned until August 6 and 7, 2026, for continuation of hearing.
The NSCDC Lagos State Command declared its dedication to protecting Crucial National Assets and Facilities, alerting that anyone found vandalising federal government home would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The command also appealed to parents, guardians, school authorities and community leaders to reinforce the supervision of youths and team up with security agencies to safeguard public infrastructure throughout communities.
