The Benue State Government has evacuated its indigenes studying at University of Jos following intensifying security concerns in Jos.

The preventive relocation comes amid current violence and rising tensions in parts of Plateau State, triggering authorities to prioritise the security of trainees.

Federal government authorities divulged that buses were deployed to facilitate the safe transportation of the trainees back to Benue State.

According to the state federal government, the evacuation is a proactive step aimed at protecting lives as the security situation in the impacted locations remains unsure.

“The evacuation was performed to ensure the safety of our trainees as stress persist. Their welfare remains our leading priority,” the government specified.
