ABUJA, FCT– The National Association of Nigerian Trainees (NANS) has formally dissolved the Executive Council of the Ogun State Joint Campus Council (JCC), mentioning a constitutional crisis and the failure of the management to arrange fresh elections.
In a declaration launched on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the nationwide secretariat revealed the instant constitution of a transition committee to guide the affairs of the state chapter and conduct an optional convention within 30 days.
The dissolution follows months of internal friction, characterised by petitions, counter-petitions, and increasing factional departments, which NANS President, Olushola Oladoja, referred to as a risk to the “functional coherence” of the student body in Ogun State.

Procedural Breaches and Tenure Overstay
While the national secretariat affirmed that the outgoing chairman was legally elected in February 2025, it faulted the executive for stopping working to leave office after the expiration of the constitutionally stipulated 12-month period.
According to the NANS management, the Ogun JCC had gotten in a three-month transition window without starting the necessary electoral procedures. Particularly, the council stopped working to:
-
Assemble a Pre-Convention Senate Satisfying: An important constitutional requirement for setting election dates.
-
Constitute a Convention Planning Committee (CPC): The independent body accountable for evaluating prospects and managing the surveys.
-
Ensure Cooperation: The management was accused of taking part in dissentious activities and disregarding instructions from the nationwide head office.
The 30-Day Shift Required
To avoid a total breakdown of order, NANS has selected a high-powered shift committee led by the Vice President (Inter-Campus Affairs), Akinbodunse Praise, with National PRO Adeyemi Ajasa acting as Secretary.
The committee is made up of South-West zonal officials and selected Trainees’ Union Federal Government (SUG) presidents from throughout Ogun State tertiary institutions.
The Committee’s Immediate Tasks:
-
Administrative Oversight: Managing the day-to-day affairs of the Ogun JCC.
-
Electoral Compliance: Organising a fresh, transparent election in strict adherence to the NANS Constitution.
-
Stakeholder Engagement: Reuniting the various factions to guarantee a tranquil transition.
Caution Against Factionalism
The national secretariat has directed all stakeholders, consisting of security companies and heads of tertiary organizations in Ogun State, to neglect any decisions or representations made by the dissolved executive council.
President Oladoja cautioned that any more deviation from constitutional principles or efforts to speed up new factions would consult with strict disciplinary steps.
The forthcoming electoral procedure is expected to be a base test of NANS’s credibility in the South-West.
With the involvement of regional SUG presidents in the transition committee, the nationwide body intends to bring back a sense of ownership and grassroots authenticity to the Ogun JCC, which acts as an important bridge between the students and the state federal government.
