The Federal government has introduced a national digital platform targeted at securing the trustworthiness of Nigeria’s education system and strengthening the integrity of scholastic records throughout tertiary institutions.

The effort, called the Nigeria Education Repository and Data Bank (GEEK), was revealed by the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, throughout the National Capacity Structure Program for institutional representatives.

According to the Minister, the platform is developed to protect, digitise and validate scholastic records nationwide, forming part of the reform program of the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Alausa described the repository as important infrastructure for enhancing education information governance and ensuring the dependable preservation of scholastic credentials.

“The Nigeria Education Repository and Data Bank is critical nationwide infrastructure for protecting scholastic qualifications and strengthening education information governance,” the Minister stated.
