
The Federal government has reinforced its commitment to upgrading Nigeria’s education sector by mobilising international partners and private financiers to drive sustainable reforms and long-lasting growth.
Speaking at a high-level CEO Breakfast Roundtable in Lagos, the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, said the effort aligns with the Restored Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises education as a driver for national development.
The roundtable assembled stakeholders from throughout industries under the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative to explore ingenious funding strategies and deepen partnership aimed at revitalising the system.
Alausa noted that while substantial strides have been made in areas such as policy reform, digital transformation, and data-driven governance, crucial obstacles continue. These include the growing number of out-of-school kids, low knowing outcomes, and an inequality between education and labour market requires.
He described crucial government interventions, consisting of the expansion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), enhancing teacher training programmes, reintegrating out-of-school kids, and accelerating the implementation of digital infrastructure in schools.
Also addressing individuals, the Minister of State for Education, Suwaiba Said Ahmad, emphasised the significance of continual partnership, explaining the forum as a tactical platform for lining up nationwide and worldwide efforts.
Advancement partners such as the Global Collaboration for Education and the UK reiterated their continued support for Nigeria’s reform agenda. In addition, Italy verified strategies to host the fifth GPE Replenishment Conference in Rome, a move anticipated to more galvanise international financing for education.
The conference also saw stakeholders endorse the Standard Education Investment Case and embrace innovative financing models to bridge financing gaps. Notably, the Airtel Africa Foundation promised to support digital knowing and expand connection across underserved communities.
To make sure efficient application, the government announced the development of a Public-Private Education Technical Working Group, which will manage coordination, governance, and financial investment positioning.
The Federal Ministry of Education declared its willpower to reinforce accountability, deepen collaborations, and deliver measurable enhancements in discovering results nationwide.
