The University of Abuja has intensified efforts to enhance sickle cell care in Nigeria through a high-level training programme focused on advancing treatment approaches and enhancing research study cooperation.
The institution’s Centre of Quality in Sickle Cell Illness Research and Training just recently hosted a three-day ACCELERATE Principal Detectives (PIs) training conference from March 23 to 25, 2026. The hybrid event brought together individuals both physically and virtually for extensive refresher sessions and tactical conversations.
The training fixated enhancing the reliable usage of Hydroxyurea, a commonly recognized therapy for handling Sickle Cell Illness, with the aim of improving client results across the nation.
Speaking at the occasion, the Director of CESRTA, Obiageli Nnodu, commended the level of collaboration amongst regional and worldwide stakeholders.
“Their partnership continues to influence our commitment to advancing fair, evidence-based take care of sickle cell illness throughout Nigeria and beyond,” she stated.
Nnodu also acknowledged the contributions of Emmanuel Peprah of New York City University and the iCTS scientific trials team for their ongoing support.
The ACCELERATE training types part of more comprehensive efforts by CESRTA and its partners to scale up research, enhance treatment protocols, and broaden access to life-saving treatments for people coping with sickle cell disease.
