COOU Study, Work and Earn Initiative for Students

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, COOU, says its Organization Ventures Committee is set to integrate students into the”Study, Work and Earn “effort. The University Management, through the Committee, said lots of students take part in hawking to money their studies or contribute to what they get from moms and dads. It said much of those trainees work without structure, instructions or a steady path for development; they just try to manage the present economic environment.

Following a series of engagements with students, the Committee stated it developed structured openings for trainees. It said the move fits the vision of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, to make the university financially practical and development-driven under her 3Vs Agenda.

The Committee likewise said the strategy keeps the school student-centred, while offering room for scholastic and service growth.

What the effort provides

The Committee stated many of the openings are flexible and relatively hassle-free for students.

One part of the scheme covers plastic and waste recycling. Students who participate are expected to gather plastic cans and sachet-water waste until the products reach 10kg and above. After that, they are paid.

The Committee provided this as a practical method for students to generate income while in school.

How students can join

Interested trainees are anticipated to follow the procedure set out by the Committee.

First, trainees are to sign up and acquire a main authorisation letter that allows them to run within the campus environment. The registration is totally free.

The Committee included a clear limitation here; the registration permits trainees to introduce and promote products within their immediate lecture environment or scholastic area.

It does not allow the screen of products on tables or wandering sales throughout campus.

Part-time work for trainees

The Committee stated it has engaged school company operators to produce part-time task openings for students.
