Inform us a little bit about yourself
I would say that one of my primary characteristics is interest, and I am also the type of individual that is constantly trying to find something else. I am very uncertain in many ways, which is in my individual life and in my expert life. And that relates a lot to the career that I have actually developed up to now– I’ve never ever truly followed a forecasted series.
Explain your profession to date
I was an exchange student and when I returned to Brazil after a year living abroad, I decided that I wished to have my own self-reliance. So I start teaching English as a 2nd language. It was a sideline, but I completely fell for education.
But at the time, coming from the household that I can be found in the northeast of Brazil, it would be quite hard to say that I was going to go to university to end up being an instructor.
So then I decided to go to medical school, and I never stopped teaching throughout my six years of medical school plus the year that I did residency. I was always included with mentor and teaching became my big life enthusiasm.
And after that I did the DELTA and the CELTA and I chose to live abroad. So I resided in the United States as a going to teacher, and when I existed, I had the deal of coming back to Brazil.
I remained for 15 years at graduate school, a global school in Sao Paulo, and when I existed, a good friend of mine put me in contact with some individuals who had this concept of opening a superior school in Rio that had all of the characteristics of a worldwide school however was Brazilian. That spoke with me from my heart.
I am the starting headmaster of Eleva, which opened in 2017, and it was gotten by the Influenced Education Group in 2022 [after quick growth]
What do you think is driving the development of the Brazilian K-12 market?
I think when we opened there were basically only three options in Rio.
You would either go to all of the conventional Catholic schools, some vanguard schools that we had in Rio, or you would go to a global school.
We presented a choice of being a Brazilian school with all of the attributes of a worldwide school, so we brought the best of both worlds.
What do you see as the biggest opportunities for international universities looking to engage with Brazil?
With the web and social media, the world has actually ended up being much more reachable.
Back in the day when I was a student, even traveling abroad was a huge event. Nowadays, whatever’s connected. Now, families wish to open as lots of doors as possible.
In the past, it was almost difficult for some families to manage to send students abroad. Now we have a range of universities.
For universities coming to Brazil, I believe a huge special selling point is showing the possibility of students going abroad and returning to their nation and applying what they’ve found out.
What do you most like about your job?
The fact that we can change the world, society, and future generations through education.
Among the important things that I’m proudest of in this school is our scholarship program. [Students from different backgrounds] are learning from each other.
