Abia State University (ABSU) has suspended the Head of the Department of Anatomy, Dr. Agbai Johnson Ukwa, over claims of extortion, grade manipulation and other forms of academic misbehavior.

The suspension was disclosed in a social networks post by education supporter and tech entrepreneur, Alex Onyia, who stated the university took the action following continuous investigations into supposed abnormalities in the organization.

According to Onyia, preliminary findings recommend that the speaker may have been involved in “grade sorting” and other doubtful scholastic practices, including apparently requiring large amounts of cash from trainees in exchange for passing examinations.

He even more declared that the Abia State Government has actually heightened its investigation and is examining trainees’ outcomes and mark sheets covering the last five years in the university.

Onyia alleged that some graduates’ outcomes might be impacted depending upon the outcome of the investigation.

In an earlier post dated May 9, Onyia recognized the suspended speaker as the HOD of the Anatomy Department and alleged that students were sometimes compelled to pay cash before being permitted to graduate, while others allegedly faced dangers of failure or missing out on scripts.

As of the time of filing this report, Abia State University had not provided a comprehensive public declaration laying out the specific allegations against the speaker or the duration of the suspension.
