This workshop, run by researchers from the Chair of Digital Change at the Department of Service and Economics, gives individuals a hands-on opportunity to experience innovative technologies: With iPad and flowAR app, they can develop, construct and plant a garden of the future with the assistance of augmented truth.
The “Smart Home” part of the exhibit highlights the field of stress in between comfort and control, with a focus on the main concern of information sovereignty: How can we make use of the benefits of a networked home without relinquishing control of our individual information?
Department of Computer Technology: Lab Tour Featuring TU Dortmund University’s Computer Science
Innovation lovers can experience the future of self-governing systems at TU Dortmund University throughout a lab tour through the Department of Computer Science. Autonomous lorries, virtual humans, and intelligent makers: today’s computer technology is stepping beyond the screen and into the real world.
The occasion starts with an introductory lecture by Prof. Mario Botsch on the topic: Realistic Virtual Human Models: Creation, Simulation, and Applications. The lecture shows how practical virtual humans can be created through 3D scanning, how these virtual designs can be animated and simulated, and provides intriguing applications from present projects.
Lamarr Institute: Social Responsibility, Sustainability and Innovation in the Age of Expert System
How can we utilize AI in concrete applications to get rid of existing obstacles in the Ruhr area? What opportunities does it use for sustainable advancement, social justice and development– and where do the risks lie? To check out these and other concerns, the Young AI Leaders Neighborhood Dortmund and the Lamarr Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence invite visitors to sign up with a practice-oriented workshop. The workshop is planned for all those who would like to find out more about the social impact and accountable use of AI or about Dortmund’s growing AI landscape. No prior knowledge is needed.
The program arranged by the Department of Computer Science will take place parallel to the workshop and in the exact same building. All individuals will have the chance to get additional insights into the topic after the workshop.
Graduate School of Logistics: Fostering Data Culture
In this interactive workshop, participants will get to grips with the subject of data culture and find out how they can promote a sustainable, data-oriented culture in their own companies. In group work and discussions, individuals will together identify which attributes define their present information culture and which ones enhance it in their own organization. The objective is to raise awareness toward the importance of a strong information culture as well as for the participants to review their own beginning position and recognize concrete, future-proof steps ideal for more development. The Graduate School of Logistics at TU Dortmund University is responsible for organizing the workshop.
CET: AI and Data in SMEs
A lecture offered by personnel from the Center for Entrepreneurship and Transfer (CET) will explore the reasons why little and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) need to deal with information and why data- or AI-based projects nevertheless typically stop working. Dr. Eugen Krebs, Dr. Andreas Becker and Sebastian Ostapiuk will present concrete examples and finest practices customized to the requirements of SMEs.
Journalism: SciCAR Conference Networks Science and Data Journalism
The Institute of Journalism is extending an invitation to the SciCAR conference on 5 September, which will combine reporters and scientists to start collective jobs in the location of computer-assisted reporting (CAR) and foster interdisciplinary exchange. Keynote speeches, panel discussions and workshops will analyze, to name a few topics, research on the energy transition and political trends, AI tools and information sources. Conference organizers are Netzwerk Recherche (an association that supports journalistic research study and quality journalism), the Institute of Journalism at TU Dortmund University, Wissenschaftspressekonferenz (a journalists’ association) and the Science Media Center Germany.
