Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with workers of the Nigeria Cops Mobile Force (MOPOL), have actually foiled an attempted mass abduction of trainees by believed ISWAP terrorists at the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Monguno, Borno State, rescuing 46 students.
The advancement was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Performing Military Info Officer, Head Office Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni.
According to the statement, the college, which is currently being used as a temporary hostel for trainees of the Federal Polytechnic, Monguno, came under attack at about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026.
The military stated the terrorists allegedly accessed to the center with the help of presumed collaborators before attempting to snatch the students.
Security personnel stationed at the school instantly engaged the assailants in a strong gun fight, while the Sector 3 Quick Response Force (QRF) swiftly enhanced the location.
The collaborated response by the troops and police forced the insurgents to abandon the operation and get away without taking any of the students.
The military confirmed that all 46 trainees were effectively rescued and left to Kinnasara Barracks in Monguno, where they got medical attention and were certified medically stable.
However, the declaration disclosed that some students lost their lives after being struck by erratic shooting from the terrorists during the exchange of fire. Authorities did not immediately reveal the exact number of fatalities.
Operation HADIN KAI stated efforts are ongoing to locate the getting away terrorists and examine the alleged involvement of collaborators in the attack.
