The Federal Government has filed a 10-count charge against 3 males over the abduction of trainees and instructors in Oriire City government Area of Oyo State.

The suspects, recognized as Abdulrazak Umar (also referred to as Abu Khalifa/Abu Khalid), Yunusa Musa (also called Yunusa bin Musa), and Shamsu Adamu Sani (also referred to as Abu Itisar), were charged before the Federal High Court in Abuja on claims verging on terrorism, kidnapping, concealment, incitement and prohibited mining.

According to the charge sheet, the defendants, all from Suleja Local Government Location of Niger State, apparently conspired with 3 other suspects identified as Muhammad Sani, Jibril Mohammed and Ibrahim Khabab between January and May 2026 to abduct schoolchildren and instructors in Oyo State.

The Federal government even more declared that the trio assisted the kidnapping and deliberately concealed details about the identities and activities of the supposed masterminds in spite of knowing the plot, offences stated to be in violation of pertinent provisions of the Terrorism (Prevention and Restriction) Act.

Prosecutors also implicated the 3 guys of professing subscription of Darul Salam, referred to as an affiliate of Jama’atu Ansarul Muslimina Fi Biladis Sudan (Ansaru), a proscribed terrorist organisation in Nigeria.

In addition, the first offender, Abdulrazak Umar, is accused of offering training and directions to terrorists and utilizing a WhatsApp group entitled “The Oneness of Allah is the Structure of Peace” to prompt members to commit acts of terrorism, contrary to the Terrorism Act and the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Act, 2015.

Umar also deals with a different charge of allegedly participating in unlawful gold mining at streams in the Chaza area of Suleja Local Government Location between 2024 and 2026, an offense stated to contravene the Miscellaneous Offences Act.

The three accuseds are expected to appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja next week to answer the charges.
