Protecting Multi-Billion Naira Enterprise Investments

The strategic pivot by the NDDC leadership comes amid massive monetary deployments into the region’s economy, including the recent release of N10 billion to young entrepreneurs through the NDCCITMA micro-credit scheme.

The Handling Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, who was represented by the Director of the Department of Alternative Dispute Resolution, Dr. Goddy Ogedegbe, discussed that structural facilities can not endure if the youth pipeline is lost to addiction and gang violence.

“Our vision extends far beyond the building and construction of roads and physical bridges to the advancement of a generation of accountable, credible leaders,” Dr. Ogbuku mentioned.

“You can money modern farms and release billions in SME capital, but if our youth pipeline is ruined by drugs, those investments will collapse. This campaign is a deliberate preventive guard to reach our youth before recruitment and before the first arrest.”

The multi-disciplinary event also included a specialized mental health clinic led by clinical psychologist True blessing Jacob-Timothy, who lectured on “Cultism, Stress, and Mental Health Among Trainees,” offering coping systems for managing peer pressure without resorting to controlled substances.

The event concluded with the discussion of the Peace Ambassador Award and Certificate to the taking part schools, delivered by the representative of McMatthy Nigeria Limited, Mr. Aye Obualla.

School administrators, speaking through Oruma Secondary School Principal Sunny-Obi Julius, thanked the NDDC for picking grassroots public schools for the prompt intervention.

They advised the state ministry of education to embed anti-cultism modules straight into the continuous third-term secondary school curriculum to sustain a safe knowing environment.
