
The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University of Education, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, has urged final-year students of the organization to be worthwhile ambassadors of the university and uphold worths that will enhance its reputation after graduation.
She offered the charge throughout an interactive session with 400-level trainees held on June 10, 2026, at the Multimedia Complex of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office as part of activities marking the students’ Final Year Brethren (FYB) event.
The trainees, led by the Performing Dean of the Student Affairs Office, Dr. Dawodu Rasheed Adegbenro, went to the university management to bid farewell as they prepare to finish their scholastic programs.
Resolving the trainees, Prof. Lafiaji-Okuneye commended them for their resilience, devotion, and commitment throughout their scholastic journey. She encouraged them to preserve good conduct, avoid social vices, and use the knowledge gotten at the university to make significant contributions to society.
She also worried the significance of security consciousness, prompting the trainees to remain alert and report suspicious activities.
“Be focused on your research studies in the staying days as LASUED students. Do not relent in your efforts to reach greater heights beyond your degrees, and stay alert about your environment due to the security challenges impacting the country. If you see something, say something,” she said.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed satisfaction with the organized conduct of the trainees throughout the FYB events, associating the success of the event to the efforts of the university’s Security System and Student Affairs Office.
In a significant announcement, Prof. Lafiaji-Okuneye disclosed that LASUED would hold its maiden convocation event this year given that obtaining university status. She included that finishing trainees would receive their certificates on the same day as the convocation.
She even more applauded the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for efforts targeted at enhancing access to higher education, particularly through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund plan.
Earlier, the Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Dawodu Rasheed Adegbenro, admired the Vice-Chancellor for her leadership and commitment to student well-being.
