The Federal Capital Area(FCT)Authorities Command has dismissed reports of an alleged kidnapping of students at Phase 1 Primary School, Gbagalape, Abuja, describing the occurrence as an incorrect alarm.

The Command’s representative, SP Josephine Adeh, revealed that officers connected to the Nyanya Department received a distress call at about 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, alleging that a kidnapping remained in development at the school.

According to her, the Divisional Law Enforcement Officer (DPO) of Nyanya Division right away mobilised officers and monitoring groups to the scene to confirm the report and protect the location.

Preliminary investigations, however, exposed that students had unexpectedly begun screaming “kidnappers” and running out of the school facilities, triggering panic among instructors and members of the surrounding community.

Adeh stated police operatives swiftly cordoned off the school and conducted an extensive search of the properties.

She described that substantial searches and questioning of individuals within and around the school showed that no kidnapping had taken place, no suspect was sighted and no victim was recognized.

The spokesperson included that officers also browsed surrounding hills, limits and adjacent locations, while close-by schools were visited as part of precautionary security measures targeted at making sure public security.

Adeh urged members of the general public to remain calm and prevent spreading unverified information capable of producing unnecessary panic and tension in communities.

She also repeated the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property throughout the Federal Capital Area.
