Journalism student Sophia Buschhorn won in the classification “Finest Contribution under 4 Minutes” with a piece on the subject of femicide. Under the title “When ladies are killed since they are women”, she reported on a femicide that shook Dortmund, showing the effect such crimes have on a city and its individuals. In its declaration, the jury stressed that Buschhorn prospered in informing the story sensitively and with journalistic precision: “With remarkable original noise bites and a climatic soundscape, the author manages to be extremely near the people without appearing voyeuristic. The result is radio that moves, informs, and demands duty– in your area rooted, yet of worldwide significance.”
For his associate conversation about the so-called “Rocktutorium”, journalism trainee Lennart Thomas received the prize in the University category. The jury praised that he communicated the atmosphere of the course, in which trainees make music together in just a couple of weeks, in a relaxed, confident, and lovely way. He intentionally utilized original sound bites to motivate listeners to the topic in a short time.
