The National Orientation Company (NOA) has participated in a tactical Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dedicate Innovation & Consult Limited (CTCL) to speed up digital literacy and integrate civic education into Nigeria’s national worth orientation framework.
The agreement, signed in Abuja, was carried out on behalf of NOA’s Director-General Lanre Issa-Onilu by David Akoji, Director of Unique Responsibilities and States Operations, while Niran Oyekale signed on behalf of the technology company.
The collaboration establishes a nationwide cooperation focused on providing digital abilities training, certification, and civic education to millions of Nigerians, lining up with the nation’s target of achieving 70 percent digital literacy by 2027 and preparing citizens for active participation in the digital economy.
“This partnership establishes a nationwide partnership to deliver digital abilities training, accreditation, and civic education to millions of Nigerians,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the initiative will be carried out throughout Nigeria’s 36 states and 774 local government areas, with an ambitious goal of training and accrediting at least one million youths every year and reaching 20 million digitally literate and civically responsible youths by 2030.
“The collaboration will train and license a minimum of one million youths annually, placing Nigeria to satisfy its national advancement targets,” it included.
The program is designed to integrate digital literacy with civic education and national values, promote responsible digital citizenship, expand access to internationally recognised certifications, and enhance youth employability, entrepreneurship, and performance, while supporting Nigeria’s digital governance and economic diversity program.
“The collaboration represents a transformational nationwide initiative to incorporate digital literacy with civic duty and prepare Nigerians for the demands of the contemporary workforce and digital society,” the statement kept in mind.
Execution will start with pilot projects in 6 states representing the country’s geopolitical zones, followed by a phased nationwide rollout, including the facility of Digital Literacy Centres within NOA offices to function as community hubs for training, certification, and digital engagement.
“The effort will also develop Digital Literacy Centres nationwide and deploy digital learning platforms, alongside nationwide sensitisation campaigns and stakeholder engagement,” the statement stated.
The cooperation is anticipated to enhance digital capability, promote civic duty, and develop sustainable pathways for youth empowerment and financial development, enhancing a shared commitment to building a digitally empowered and values-driven Nigerian society.
