At least 21 individuals, including 20 schoolchildren, lost their lives after a school bus was associated with a deadly roadway mishap in Uganda, authorities have validated.
The crash occurred as pupils of King David Junior School in Kampala were returning from an expedition to the Sipi Falls traveler location in Kapchorwa District.
According to a declaration issued by the Uganda Police on Friday, preliminary findings suggest that the chauffeur lost control of the bus, causing it to veer off the roadway before crashing into a large roadside rock and overturning.
Police said the mishap declared the lives of 20 pupils and one adult male. Three other adult males, along with numerous children, sustained differing degrees of injuries and were taken to healthcare facility for treatment.
Images released by the cops showed the bus extensively damaged after the crash.
Authorities stated examinations are underway to determine the specific situations surrounding the incident.

Uganda has continued to face a high rate of road traffic accidents, particularly those involving business buses and heavy-duty vehicles, typically credited to bad roadway conditions and other security concerns.
In October 2025, at least 46 people were killed after 2 buses collided on one of the nation’s major highways.
Authorities stats released in 2024 revealed that Uganda recorded 4,434 deadly road crashes, leading to 5,144 deaths.
